Patrick’s father was headmaster of the local school. Patrick took over as headmaster on his fathers death in 1915. Patrick never settled into the role. He upped and left in about 1920 to become a travelling fiddle teacher. For the next 40 years he walked up and down the hills of Kerry/Cork sometimes as much as 30 miles a day.
